TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS IN FULL SWING
Munich, Germany (2000/03/06) – Since its launch in August last year, Rola Bauer's Munich-based TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS has grown quickly, assembling a top team and taking on several high-profile projects. “My goal was to immediately become operational,” says Bauer. “I knew what I was looking for, and was able to continue with a winning team. We now have top professionals who speak the international co-production language fluently.”
Tim Halkin (40), late of Germany 's ProSieben Television Network, joined TANDEM at the end of last year as a Junior Partner. Bauer and Halkin were well established through their 3 year collaboration at ProSieben. American born Halkin helped set up operations for Buena Vista Home Entertainment in Germany and Switzerland and headed up marketing in Germany for 6 years prior to joining the ProSieben Media AG in 1996. In America , Halkin worked last for the Metropolitan Opera where he set up and ran a direct marketing department. Halkin's career began in theatre and production management. During his alliance with the New York Chelsea Theatre Centre in the late ‘70's, Halkin worked on productions such as Das Lusitania Songspiel, starring Sigourney Weaver, and Vanities, starring Kathy Bates.
Bauer hired Torsten Dewi (31), who last worked in international production development at ProSieben, as Tandem's Development Manager. An accomplished book author in his own right, Dewi started his career as a Journalist, working for such top publications as the German television guide GONG and Playboy. In addition to his work developing projects for TANDEM, Dewi continues to write and publish novels, text books and journalistic articles.
For marketing, sales support and press and P.R., Bauer added Sigrid Bachert (34) to the team. Bachert's education and experience is in classic consumer and trade marketing, having worked for market leaders such as the LEIFHEIT AG. Bachert, also a “graduate” of ProSieben, last worked as a Senior Product Manager, marketing video and DVD as well as coordinating the sale of theatrical and video rights.
Since it's launch, the TANDEM team has taken on the development and production supervision for the KirchMedia Group of several high-profile projects such as the mini-series Dune based on Frank Herbert's classic novel, which is presently filming in Prague with an outstanding international cast including William Hurt, Giancarlo Giannini and Uwe Ochsenknecht, and the new 26 episode action series, Largo Winch, starring Paolo Seganti, Sydney Penny and Diego Wallraff, which is presently shooting in Montreal and Paris, and will be hitting the American airwaves via Paramount Television. TANDEM will also be working on a series and mini-series project with Wolfgang Petersen's Radiant Productions. In addition to production supervision, TANDEM has entered into co-development / co-production deals with CTL/UFA and Endemol. “We want to start building assets,” says Bauer. “The best way to do it is to develop properties that you feel passionate about, with partners who share the same passion.”
