UN worker Jack (Patrick Bergin) has been commissioned to rid Angola of its deadly landmines. His assistant Kat is the step-daughter of a local missionary doctor, Hildy Koller (Désirée Nosbusch).

 

As Jack's son comes to spend the summer with him, the peace talks between the government and the rebel forces break down and the revolution starts. The four must make a run for the border, but the rebels consider Hildy and Jack's son prime kidnapping targets. Their ransoms would be a goldmine. Jack and Kat must now find a way to free them and get over the border.
