The Pillars of the Earth, the groundbreaking eight-hour series based on Ken Follett´s worldwide bestseller, adapted for television by John Pielmeier and directed by Sergio
Mimica-Gezzan, was seen by an average of 6.8 million viewers per night during its run on Germany's SAT.1.

Pillars maintained a steady audience, demonstrating its strength across a wide demographic and delivering impressive numbers. The series produced an average market share of 25.3 % in the key demo (14-49 years).

Ken Follett’s World Without End is the best-selling sequel set 200 years after The Pillars of the Earth and will also be an eight-hour event series. World Without End is set to go into production in Summer 2011.

Back on board after successful airings of The Pillars of the Earth for World Without End are Germany's ProSiebenSat.1, Spain's Cuatro, Austria's ORF and Sky Italia. Germany's Universum Film (home entertainment) has also re-upped.
