MILLIONS OF VIEWERS TUNE IN INTO NORA ROBERTS’ MONTANA SKY, THE 1ST OF A ROBERTS EVENT MOVIE 4-PACK, ON ARD IN GERMANY
Munich, Germany (2007/07/13) - TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS is proud to announce that Montana Sky, starring My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Sex in the City’s John Corbett, the first of 4 event movies based on the romantic thrillers from the publishing phenomenon, Nora Roberts, aired in primetime on Germany’s ARD last night, claiming a 19.1% rating in the demo 3+, winning the night in primetime. Roberts, who has sold over 20 million books in Germany alone and 300 million worldwide, enticing approximately 5.5 million of her German fans to their television sets, boosting for the network a healthy double-digit rating in the demo 14-49 years of 12.3%, demonstrating broad appeal across all age groups.
TANDEM's strategy is to work with top talent and bring event programming to the international market. Nora Roberts’ books and working with veteran executive producers like Stephanie Germain and Mandalay’s Peter Guber and Peter Strauss fit perfectly into that strategy. Last night’s audience response proved the need in the market place for this kind of programming“, explains Rola Bauer, Co-Managing Director of Munich-based production and distribution company, TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS.
Montana Sky, starring John Corbett, Ashley Williams, Charlotte Ross and Diane Ladd, tripled Lifetime Network’s normal viewership for their Monday night primetime slot when it aired recently in the USA. It’s the story of three half-sisters who are forced to live together to receive their father’s inheritance. No sooner have the sisters begrudgingly settled in, a series of brutal murders begin. Now they must determine if these are random, unrelated incidents, or if a demented psychopath has them in his sight.
”With ARD Network supporting the project, the video rights with Sony Home Entertainment and Heyne Publishing having many of Nora Roberts’ books,” explains Tim Halkin, Co-Managing Director of TANDEM, “TANDEM created synergy for this project by inviting the three companies to join us in a think-tank. The results have truly enhanced the public communication on these four titles and built on the solid franchise that Ms. Roberts has in this country.” Part of the campaign included a combi-spot that Sony and Heyne are airing in connection with the 4 films, cross-promotion stickers on the books and DVDs, as well new editions of the books using the film artworks.
ARD chose 4 consecutive 8:15pm, Thursday night slots, which are normally reserved for specials, to air this event collection. Montana Sky will be followed next Thursday, July 19th, by Nora Roberts’ Angels Fall, starring Heather Locklear and Johnathon Schaech.
Angels Fall is the story of the sole survivor of a brutal crime who has been on the run, desperately fighting the nightmares and panic attacks that haunt her ever since. When a series of menacing events makes it clear that someone wants her out of the way, Reece (Heather Locklear) must put her trust in the recluse writer, Brody (Johnathon Schaech), to find the killer before it's too late.
